Bed and Breakfast
The Map House offers a relaxing retreat to people who value high standards of comfort and total privacy.
skip Unlike most B&Bs, guests have their own self-contained suite (sitting room, double bedroom and bathroom) each with it's own staircase and front door, providing flexibility of access throughout the day.Formerly a gamekeeper's lodge, the Map House is rich in historical detail and set in attractive grounds with easy parking. Its location provides fine views and instant access to footpaths and nature walks on the adjacent Bayfield estate. The name 'Smokers Hole' is derived from the tradition of charcoal burning in the nearby woodland.
Situated in the beautiful Glaven Valley, the Map House is close to the north Norfolk coast at Blakeney (4 miles) and the internationally acclaimed bird watching reserve at Cley. Pale sand beaches, huge skies, salt marshes and unspoilt countryside make this part of north Norfolk unique in the English landscape.
The Georgian market town of Holt (3 miles) provides a sophisticated blend of restaurants, independent shops (antiques, second-hand bookshops, clothes and accessories) and art/craft galleries for creative browsing.
