Relax

Relax and enjoy

Feel the wind in your hair and the sun on your face as you get out and experience the great outdoors.

A place to relax
Not many cities can boast so much green open space, a wonderful contrast to the buzz of the centre. Head out to Nene Park which stretches over six miles along the picturesque River Nene. Perfect for picnics, walking, cycling, riding and golf.

Ferry Meadows in the heart of Nene Park is the place to try out some watersports. You can choose from rowing, sailing, kayaking or even windsurfing. For those with a more sedate approach the lakes are great for coarse fishing.

You can arrive in Peterborough by boat and moor up to enjoy a spot of lunch or let someone else do the hard work and take a river trip (groups only). And for a nostalgic return journey by steam train travel on the Nene Valley Railway.

Keen cyclists will enjoy the Green Wheel route - 45 miles of signposted cycleways threading through woodland, nature reserves and pretty villages. For a different kind of challenge try the climbing wall, paintballing or laser force and for the more adventurous parachuting, sky diving.

Our award-winning Central Park with its elegant gardens is a great place to relax and for refreshments try the Buttercross Tearooms. Fresh air and time out...
