Peterborough is a vibrant modern city that is proud of its heritage. Come to enjoy the present and peel back the layers of our ancient heritage

This modern-day city hides a wealth of history just waiting to be uncovered. Visit Flag Fen Bronze Age Centre where archaeologists found the oldest wheel in Britain. Then fast forward a few centuries to discover the "new" 12th century cathedral with the largest surviving example of a painted wooden ceiling from the Middle Ages.

Peterborough Museum is the city's most haunted building - you can join in a ghost tour if you dare! They also have one of the best collections of marine monsters in the world. Why not take a trip on one of the steam engine at Nene Valley Railway and feel yourself transported to a bygone age. But do not forget our natural pleasures - green open spaces, lakes and riverside. Or take to two wheels and make the most of our Green Wheel cycle network to cover miles of glorious countryside.

Enjoy our events - CAMRA Beer Festival, East of England Show, the Peterborough Festival or just relax with a nightout at the theatre or the greyhound stadium. Your choice is limited purely by time

Peterborough Come and enjoy all that Peterborough has to offer - a forward-looking modern city that is proud of its past.
