Prebendal Manor

The Grade 1 listed Prebendal Manor House is the earliest surviving dwelling in Northamptonshire dating back to the early 13th century.

The impetus to excavate at Prebendal Manor came in 1984 when two members of a local archaeological society asked permission to investigate an area within the grounds of the Manor. The house was further excavated by the 'Time Team' in 2003.

The Manor forms the focus of a group of stone buildings, which includes a 16th century dovecote, a large 18th century tithe barn and a 15th century lodgings building. The present house stands on an historic site which includes two medieval fishponds, and other archaeological and historical areas of interest. It has the largest recreated medieval garden in Europe and is home to some rare breed farm animals.

The Prebendal Manor and the church stand on a promontory overlooking the River Nene and the village of Nassington.

A unique medieval centre where you can learn all about life during the Middle Ages for the inhabitants of this beautiful manor.
