Bypassed by the busy road, Battlesbridge is a quiet little place set beside the creek. The bridge over the tidal River Crouch was kept in repair from the earliest days by the Bataille family, hence the name of the hamlet. Today it is home to one of the country´s leading antiques centres based on a former mill and a number of interesting buildings, housing more than 80 dealers.
