A splendid Norman keep, built in 1140 by the famous deVeres,Earls of Oxford. Approached by a lovely Tudor bridge andvisited by Kings Henry VII and VIII and Queen Elizabeth Iand besieged by King John. There is a magnificent banqueting hall with a minstrels´ gallery and the finest Norman arch inEngland. Beautiful grounds, peaceful woodland and lakesidewalks, all beside a medieval village with a fine Normanchurch.
