Dartmoor

A few miles from the city is Dartmoor, one of the finest and largest National Parks in Britain and the last great wilderness in Southern England.

The landscape is unique with its high heather-covered moors, ancient standing stones, hut circles and stone clapper bridges. It feels like another world.

You can walk, cycle or ride on horseback to enjoy the extraordinary landscape at its best. View the magic of rushing waters at Becky, Canonteign and White Lady waterfalls. Or for more peaceful waters, the beautiful Garden House, "You´d be mad to miss it!" said TVs Alan Titchmarsh.
To the west, take in the picturesque market town of Tavistock, with its mediaeval buildings, canal and Pannier Market.

Enjoy a traditional pub lunch at one of the many moorland village taverns, with stunning views of the countryside. In the afternoon, try a Devon clotted cream tea in one of the quaint little tea shops or sample some local produce at one of the many farmers markets.
