Clifford Road Air Raid Shelter Museum

Step back to Ipswich in World War II.

Experience life in Ipswich at the time of the Second World War through this concrete underground air raid shelter.

The shelter was built under an Edwardian school and is one of the finest and best preserved examples of its kind.

Let the music of Vera Lynn and Glen Miller transport you back to the 1940's and discover how rationing and evacuation affected a typical local community.

Experienced guides are on hand to explain the fascinating collection of memorabilia from that era, answer questions and (particularly with the sights and sounds of an original bombing raid) bring the past to life.
