Mother Shipton's Cave

Mother Shipton is England's most famous Prophetess.


She lived some 500 years ago in the times of King Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth I. Nestled at the heart of the Mother Shipton estate is a relic of the ancient Forest of Knaresborough with beautiful riverside walks.

Mother Shipton's Cave is England's Oldest Visitor Attraction having opened its gates in 1630. There is an Audio Tour on the Cave and Petrifying Well.

No disabled access to the Cave and Petrifying Well. Access to rest of the estate.

Adult £5.75. Child £4.00 (under 4's Free). Senior citizens £4.75. Family £16.75 (2 adults and two children or one adult and three children. Additional children £2.50 each - to a maximum of 3)
