There is a display called 'The Coaching Inn of Baldock' which describes the history of the town's inns since medieval times but concentrates on the important part played by country inns and innkeepers in the operation of stage coaches and stage wagons during the coaching age, thus giving an unusual slant to the history of that period.
This will be replaced in May 2007 by 'the archaeology of the Baldock Bypass', explaining the many archaeological features uncovered during the works, including the site of a medieval leper hospital, and showing some of the more interesting finds.
