Hitchin Museum and Art Gallery

A converted 19thC house on 2 floors with displays of costume, local history, a Victorian chemist's shop, a physic garden.

The varied and fascinating past of Hitchin´s brought to lifeat this busy market town museum. The galleries tell the story of Hitchin´s economic and social past. There is a costume gallery covering 2 centuries. Local history gallery and displays dedicated to the Hertfordshire yeomanry. A physic garden in the museum grounds complements the recreation of the interior of local Victorian chemist shop, Perks and Llewellyn. In addition, there is a temporary exhibition and events programme. Research room.

Mobility access on ground floor plus 'virtual' tour of the chemist shop.

Guided tours by appointment (group) only.

Charges are made for some events e.g. tours, talks and holiday activities.

Information leaflets in French and Italian. Also Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, Gujurati, Bengali, Polish.
