Paxton Pits Nature Reserve consises of 75 hectacres of restored gravel pits, made up of lakes, meadows, grassland, scrub and woodland. There are 2 trails, the meadow trail (2.4km) and the heron trail (3.2km), plus a section of the Ouse Valley Way. There are 2 birdwatching hides and much of the walk is accessible to wheelchairs. A visitor centre is open most days in summer and weekends in winter.
