Both woods are fine examples of the ancient woodland which once covered much of the boulder clay uplands in this area.Both woods are ash and oak. Oxlip flowers in spring under the field maple and hazel coppice. Bluebell, primrose and wood anemone flower under the birch on the drier acidic greens and exposed in the small valley.
